This workshop, offered in partnership with Spotlight, is an introduction to exploring and applying speech actions that make up the ‘General American’ accent which is a key casting requirement for actors. With Abi Lumb and In Partnership with Spotlight Gail has an MFA from the Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC, a BFA from New York University, and a certificate from the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain. Gail has also been a Guest Lecturer at the University of West Scotland in the UK, Starfish International in the Republic of The Gambia and the Jakarta International School in Indonesia. Other teaching credits include NYU/Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Circle-in-the-Square Theatre School, Theater for a New Audience, and American Globe Theater – to name just a few. For the past 25 years, Gail has been a Master Teaching Artist with Broadway’s Roundabout Theatre Company, as well as an Associate Professor at Kean University. She has worked on and/or consulted on 50+ shows for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and directed/devised dozens of theatre productions for regional theatres throughout the U.S. Gail Winar is a theatre director, producer, educator and actor from New York City.
